Niver Lines' origins can be found at the end of the first decade of the 20th century. At that time an activity of constructing wooden barges was established in Greece and Turkey by Eugenios Eugenides which led to a timber import business and this in turn generated the twin activity of ship agency business and shipowning.

A complete ship agency network was established at the end of the 1930 in Mediterranean, when a Line Management Contract was secured from the Swedish Brostrom Group's and the newly created Swedish Orient Line.
During the Second World War the above network was extended in South America where own offices were founded in Argentine and Uruguay. In 1945 headquarters moved in Switzerland.

After the world war II the own passenger service Home Lines was launched and carried thousands of immigrants from Greece and Italy to the States . It originally commenced sailing from Greece, Italy to New York and at later stage Mr. Nicos Vernicos -Eugenides the succesor of Mr. Eugenio -Eugenides diverted into a Cruise Line that enjoyed the privilege of sailing from New York to Bermuda islands.

At the same time a liner service was set up from Mediterranean to East Coast South America, operating under the trade name of Niver Lines.
Since 1995 Niver Lines has been operating as a Greek shipping company located in Glyfada in Greece.
